AROMATICA: frequently asked questions

What is Aromatica?

Aromatica is a Korean aromatherapy brand founded in 2004. It makes scalp, body and skincare products built on essential oils, produced in its own factory in Osan, South Korea. Its motto: “Save the skin, save the planet.”

Who founded Aromatica?

Aromatica was founded in 2004 by Kim Young-kyun, also known as Jerry Kim, who still runs the company. Because essential oils are volatile and tricky to formulate, Aromatica chose to build its own factory and lab rather than rely on a contract manufacturer.

What is Aromatica's best product?

Aromatica is best known for its Rosemary scalp care line, including the Rosemary Scalp Scaling Shampoo and the Rosemary Root Enhancer. On Ma Petite Coree, the most popular Aromatica product in recent months is the Rosemary PDRN Scalp Serum, a scalp serum from the same Rosemary family.

What's in the Aromatica Rosemary line?
What's the difference between Rosemary and Vitalizing Rosemary?

At Aromatica, Rosemary is the scalp and hair line. Vitalizing Rosemary uses rosemary too, but for face and body: the Vitalizing Rosemary Pore Cleansing Oil, the Vitalizing Rosemary Concentrated Essence, the Vitalizing Rosemary Firming Cream or the Vitalizing Rosemary Moisture Barrier Sunscreen.

Which Aromatica product is best for an oily scalp?

For an oily scalp, Aromatica suggests the Rosemary Scalp Scaling Shampoo for daily washing, the Rosemary Salt Scrub Shampoo or the Rosemary Scalp Scrub once or twice a week, and the Rosemary Dry Shampoo Powder to refresh your roots between washes.

Which Aromatica products work for blemish-prone skin?

For oily or blemish-prone skin, look at Aromatica's Super Tea Tree line: the Super Tea Tree Clarifying Toner, the Super Tea Tree Clay Mask Cleanser, the Super Tea Tree Soothing Gel Cream and the Super Tea Tree Rescue Spot Treatment for individual spots.

Which Aromatica product is best for damaged hair?

For dry or weakened lengths, Aromatica created the Quinoa Protein line: the Quinoa Protein Shampoo, the Quinoa Protein Treatment Mask and the Quinoa Protein Hair Ampoule. The Ritual Lavender & Patchouli Hair Oil rounds out the routine on the ends.

Is Aromatica vegan and cruelty-free?

According to the brand, Aromatica's formulas are vegan, and some of its ingredients and products are COSMOS certified. For animal testing, check the claims and logos on each Aromatica product's packaging.

Is Aromatica a sustainable brand?

Aromatica has used 100% recycled PET bottles since 2021, offers refill packs and refill stations in Korea, and earned B Corp certification in 2026. The brand sums up its approach as “Save the skin, save the planet.”

Who is Aromatica?

Aromatica is a Korean aromatherapy brand launched in 2004 by Kim Young-kyun, also known as Jerry Kim, who still leads the company. The idea from day one was simple: everyday skincare made with essential oils instead of synthetic fragrance. The catch is that essential oils are volatile and hard to work with at scale. Rather than hand production over to a contract manufacturer, Aromatica decided to make its products itself. Today the brand formulates and manufactures in its smart factory in Osan, south of Seoul, with its own research lab. It describes itself as an aromatherapy-based scalp and skincare brand, and its range also covers body care and feminine care.

Aromatica Rosemary and the other signature lines

Rosemary is the ingredient that made Aromatica famous around the world. But the brand organizes its range by plant, and each line has its own scent.

  • Rosemary: the scalp line, with shampoos, scrubs, a PDRN serum, an ampoule, a conditioner and a 3-in-1 treatment.
  • Vitalizing Rosemary: rosemary for face and body, from cleansing oil to firming cream and sunscreen.
  • Super Tea Tree: tea tree for oily, blemish-prone skin.
  • Glow Vita: orange and neroli for a brighter-looking complexion.
  • Quinoa Protein: quinoa protein for weakened hair.
  • Soothing Aloe and Reviving Rose: aloe vera to soothe, rose for a gentle cleanse.
  • Lavender & Marjoram, Neroli & Patchouli, Lavender & Patchouli: the essential-oil duos behind the body and hair care.

How to choose your Aromatica product

If your scalp gets oily fast, start with the Rosemary Scalp Scaling Shampoo and add the Rosemary Scalp Scrub once a week. If your hair lacks density, look at the Rosemary PDRN Scalp Serum or the Rosemary Root Volumizing Scalp Ampoule. For dry or damaged lengths, the Quinoa Protein line, with the Quinoa Protein Treatment Mask, is your best bet. For the face, oily or blemish-prone skin will love Super Tea Tree, starting with the Super Tea Tree Clarifying Toner. Dry or sensitive skin will get on well with the Reviving Rose Infusion Cream Cleanser and the Soothing Aloe Aqua Cream. If your skin needs more firmness, Vitalizing Rosemary offers the Vitalizing Rosemary Elasticity Ampoule and the Vitalizing Rosemary Firming Cream. For dull skin, try the Glow Vita C Orange & Neroli Toning Serum. For the body, it's really about the scent: lavender and marjoram for the evening with the Serene Lavender & Marjoram Body Wash, or neroli and patchouli with the Embrace Neroli & Patchouli Body Wash. To round out your routine, browse hair care, body care, cleansers and moisturizers too. If you have oily skin, our oily skin edit helps you compare Aromatica with other Korean brands.

What makes Aromatica different

Aromatica's motto fits in one line: “Save the skin, save the planet.” On the skin side, the brand builds its formulas around plants and essential oils, and it says its formulas are vegan, with some ingredients and products COSMOS certified. On the planet side, Aromatica's clear bottles have been made from 100% recycled PET since 2021, a move recognized by Korea's Ministry of Environment. The brand also offers refill packs and refill stations where you bring your own bottle, and it collects empty bottles through its Join the Circle campaign. In 2026, Aromatica earned B Corp certification, which assesses a company's social and environmental impact. The result: minimal bottles, easy-to-read labels and natural scents that change from one line to the next.

Aromatica best sellers on Ma Petite Coree

For the body, the Basil & Bergamot Sugar Body Scrub and the big Lemongrass 7 Vita Bodywash win people over with their scents.
