Innisfree is a Korean skincare brand launched in 2000 by Amorepacific, which calls it Korea's first natural beauty brand. According to the brand, the name comes from W. B. Yeats’ poem “The Lake Isle of Innisfree”, and Amorepacific describes it as an island of healing for the skin. For Innisfree, that island is very real: Jeju, the volcanic island off Korea's south coast. Since day one, the brand has studied Jeju's climate, soil and plants to create skincare that's easy to slip into your daily routine.

It all starts with green tea. In the late 1970s, Amorepacific turned rocky, abandoned land on Jeju into tea fields, and the group went on to create three tea gardens there. Jeju green tea became Innisfree's heritage ingredient, with a dedicated line launched in 2008. Around it, the brand added other ingredients from the island: volcanic clusters (the Volcanic line), bija and Jeju orchid. It pairs them with actives skincare fans know well: retinol, vitamin C, ceramides, hyaluronic acid and PDRN.

On the commitment side, Innisfree has run an empty-bottle recycling program in its Korean stores since 2003. In 2024, the brand earned PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies certification, which confirms it does not test on animals.
