The story of WHAMISA

WHAMISA is written 화미사 in Korean. Its name reads like a little motto: “hwa” means flower, “mi” means beauty and “sa” stands for the number four. These four are the four plant families the brand builds its products on: flowers, fruits, seeds and roots.

The brand belongs to the Korean group ENS Beauty, which makes and distributes its products from Korea, with subsidiaries in Australia, the United States and Europe (its European label refers to a company based in Kraków, Poland). WHAMISA is especially well established in Europe: organic stores, perfumeries and online pharmacies have been selling it for years, especially in Germany.

Today, its official website lists partners in around twenty countries, including France, Germany, Japan and the United States. Its range has expanded from face care to hair, body and mineral sunscreens. As of mid-October 2026, we carry more than 30 WHAMISA products, shipped from Seoul.

The WHAMISA philosophy: organic, fermented and water-free

WHAMISA presents itself as an organic skincare brand based on fermented plants. In practice, four rules come up in almost all its products:

• Fermentation: the flower, seed or cactus extracts are fermented by lactobacilli. You can spot them in the INCI list as “Lactobacillus/… Ferment Filtrate”. It’s the same principle as for kimchi: a very Korean tradition.
• No added water: instead of purified water, the base of the formulas is aloe vera, cactus juice, floral waters or rice extracts. Look at the first ingredient of its products: it’s almost never “Aqua”.
• Organic content on display: most boxes state their percentage of organic ingredients, often above 90%, and many products carry a European organic label, depending on the item.
• Vegan formulas for the vast majority of the range, with natural fragrances based on essential oils.

The key WHAMISA ingredients

Each WHAMISA line revolves around a plant family. Here are the ones to know before choosing.

Fermented flowers, the signature

They’re the heart of the Organic Flowers line: a blend of eight fermented flowers, Damask rose, calendula, dandelion, hibiscus, jasmine, lavender, chamomile and lotus. They bring softness and comfort to dry, tired skin. You’ll find them from the cleansing oil to the Deep Rich toner.

Aloe vera, instead of water

Aloe vera is the base of most of the brand’s face products: it replaces water and helps hydrate and soothe the skin. It also comes in fermented form, for example in the Organic Flowers cleansing foam.

Cactus, for hydration

The Organic Cactus line uses prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica), whose mucilage helps retain water. The Bouncy serum contains more than 99% of it according to the brand, and the Magic serum combines it with adenosine and bisabolol.

Pear blossom, for radiance

The Organic Pear Blossom line relies on Korean pear and pear blossom, partly fermented. They help revive radiance and even out the look of the complexion. Try it with the Pear Blossom toner.

Fermented seeds, for the scalp

The Organic Seeds line ferments a blend of seeds: barley, oats, rice, sesame, soy and beans. You’ll find it mostly in hair care, like the shampoo for dry scalp, and in body care.

Seaweed, for a fresh feel

The Organic Algae line uses kelp (Laminaria japonica) and other seaweeds. Its most original mask is a real sheet of seaweed soaked in essence: the seaweed mask.

In the morning

• Start small: the Organic Flowers discovery kit lets you test the face line in mini size before buying the big bottles.
• One new product at a time: wait one to two weeks before adding another, and test it first on a small area, especially if you react to essential oils.
• Store them away from heat: water-free formulas rich in natural extracts don’t like overheated bathrooms. Close the bottles tightly and respect the period-after-opening shown on the packaging.
• Sunscreen every morning: a mineral filter is applied in a generous layer and reapplied during the day, hence the point of the powder for touch-ups.
• Dose the Deep Rich oil by the drop: one to three drops are enough, alone or mixed into your cream.
• Think about your hair: choose your shampoo according to your scalp (dry, oily or sensitive), not your lengths.
