Did you type “ARTMS LOONA” into Google because you’re no longer sure who’s where? That’s normal: with twelve members, three sub-units, lawsuits and two new groups, LOONA is probably the most complicated story in recent K-pop.

Yet the group left its mark on a whole generation with “Hi High”, “Butterfly” and “So What”, and a unique concept: introducing a new girl every month for a year and a half. In this guide, we lay it all out clearly, member by member, with what each one is doing today.

The 12 LOONA members: who’s who?

The members are listed here in the order they were revealed, from HeeJin (October 2016) to Olivia Hye (March 2018). The badge under each profile shows her situation as of mid-October 2026.

LOONA, the “girl of the month” project

In Korean, LOONA is called 이달의 소녀, literally “girl of the month”. The concept, announced by Blockberry Creative in October 2016: for 18 months, a new member is introduced with her own single. HeeJin kicked things off, and Olivia Hye closed it out in March 2018.

Along the way, the girls formed three sub-units: LOONA 1/3 (HeeJin, HyunJin, HaSeul, ViVi), Odd Eye Circle (Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry) and yyxy (Yves, Chuu, Go Won, Olivia Hye). On August 20, 2018, all twelve finally came together with the EP [+ +] and the track “Hi High”.

Next came “Butterfly” in 2019, then “So What”, which gave them their first music show win, on March 12, 2020 on M Countdown. In 2021, “PTT (Paint The Town)” confirmed their bolder style, and summer 2022 ended with the EP Flip That, their last album as twelve. At concerts, Orbit waved the official LOONA lightstick, which we still have in Seoul.

Did you know?

The English name “LOONA” comes from the first Korean letters of the name 이달의 소녀: ㅇㄷㅇㅅㄴ. Rearranged (ㄴㅇㅇㄷㅅ), they look like the letters LOOΠΔ, the group’s official spelling.

The conflict with Blockberry, explained simply

It all started with Chuu, who asked to suspend her contract as early as late 2021. Blockberry removed her from the group on November 25, 2022. The other members then took legal action themselves, and the fans, the Orbit, boycotted the comeback planned for early 2023, which was postponed indefinitely.

  2. January 13, 2023The court rules in favor of HeeJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul and Choerry, who sign with Modhaus on March 17.
  3. May 2023HyunJin and ViVi also win their case and join CTDENM.
  4. June 16, 2023The last five (HaSeul, YeoJin, Yves, Go Won and Olivia Hye) win on appeal: all twelve have left Blockberry.
  5. Summer 2023HaSeul joins Modhaus. YeoJin, Go Won and Olivia Hye (now HyeJu) sign with CTDENM.
  6. September 15, 2023Debut of Loossemble, CTDENM’s five-member group.

Officially, LOONA has never announced a breakup: the group has simply been on indefinite hiatus since all its members left.

ARTMS LOONA, Loossemble, solos: who’s doing what in 2026?

Today, the former LOONA members are split between two groups and several solo careers. Here’s the update, checked as of mid-October 2026.

ARTMS: five LOONA members reunited at Modhaus

ARTMS (pronounced “Artemis”, the goddess of the Moon) brings together HeeJin, HaSeul, Kim Lip, JinSoul and Choerry at Modhaus, the label founded by Jaden Jeong, LOONA’s former creative director. Their real group debut was on May 31, 2024, with the album DALL and the track “Virtual Angel”.

In 2026, HaSeul had surgery on her left shoulder, an old injury. She isn’t taking part in the promotion of the EP Hyper-Ego, released in August 2026, or in the world tour “Art of BLUE BLOOD”, launched in Seoul in early September: ARTMS is touring as four this fall. HaSeul still released a solo single, “Afterglow”, on September 8, 2026.

Loossemble: the other group, from 2023 to 2024

Loossemble (a blend of “LOONA” and “assemble”) brought together HyunJin, YeoJin, ViVi, Go Won and HyeJu at CTDENM. The group released three EPs, including Loossemble (“Sensitive”) and One of a Kind (“Girls' Night”), before all five contracts ended on November 29, 2024.

Since then, each has gone her own way. YeoJin made her solo debut with MUMW with Lv1 (March 2026), then Lv2 in June. HyunJin launched her own label and, in May 2026, left the band Latency, where she was the drummer, to take care of her health.

Solo careers: Yves and Chuu

Yves has been solo with Paix Per Mil since 2024. Her fourth EP, Nail, came out on April 17, 2026, followed by a tour in Europe and then the Americas. Chuu, for her part, has released one EP after another since Howl (2023), including Strawberry Rush in 2024. Her contract with the agency ATRP ended on July 10, 2026, by mutual agreement.

And a reunion of all twelve? As of mid-October 2026, nothing has been officially announced. Be wary of rumors on social media.
