Red Velvet

Red Velvet is a South Korean girl group from SM Entertainment. They debuted on August 1, 2014 with the single “Happiness”. The five members, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri, are behind songs like “Red Flavor”, “Bad Boy”, “Psycho” and “Feel My Rhythm”. Their fans are called ReVeluv.

After “Happiness” (2014) and the mini album Ice Cream Cake (2015), the group released their first studio album The Red (2015, “Dumb Dumb”), then Russian Roulette (2016), The Red Summer (2017, “Red Flavor”) and Perfect Velvet (2017, “Peek-A-Boo”), reissued in 2018 with “Bad Boy”. Next came Summer Magic (2018, “Power Up”), the The ReVe Festival trilogy (2019, “Zimzalabim”, “Umpah Umpah”, “Psycho”), Queendom (2021), Feel My Rhythm and Birthday (2022), the album Chill Kill (2023) and Cosmic (2024).

On August 3, 2026, Red Velvet returned as five with the summer mini album Velvet Summer and its title track “Surfin' Boy”.

The “Red” side and the “Velvet” side

The group's name sums up its concept: a bright, colourful pop “Red” side and a softer “Velvet” side built on R&B and ballads. The members also have their own projects: the duo Irene & Seulgi (Monster, Tilt), and solos from Wendy (Like Water), Joy (Hello), Seulgi (28 Reasons) and Irene (Like A Flower).
