In Korea, there are bottles you’ll find in lots of bathrooms: a big white and sky-blue bottle, sitting next to the shower, used by the whole family. Very often, it’s an ILLIYOON lotion. No flashy packaging, no fragrance, just skincare that’s gentle, hydrating and made for skin that feels tight.
So what exactly is ILLIYOON? A Korean brand from the giant Amorepacific (the group behind Sulwhasoo, Laneige and Aestura), designed for sensitive and dry skin, from your face down to your feet. The story of ILLIYOON, from “illi” to the brand for sensitive skin
It all starts in 2012, when Amorepacific launches “illi” (일리), a body care brand focused at the time on skin elasticity. Little by little, one line takes over: Ceramide Ato, ceramide care to strengthen the skin barrier of dry and sensitive skin.
In September 2017, the brand changes its name and becomes ILLIYOON (일리윤, written 一理潤 in Chinese characters: that’s the little red seal you see on the bottles). It then presents itself as a brand of low-irritation hydrating care, starring the Ceramide Ato cream, sold in a 200 ml tube and a big 500 ml family jar.
Success follows in Korea. On Hwahae, Korea’s go-to cosmetics app, the Ceramide Ato Lotion was ranked no. 1 body lotion five years in a row (as of late 2021). The same year, it won the body hydration category at the Olive Young Awards, prizes based on actual sales at the country’s big beauty chain.
In February 2025, ILLIYOON launches the third generation of its Ceramide Ato line, with new formulas and clearer packaging. And the brand travels: during Amazon’s Big Spring Sale in March 2026, its sales grew almost fivefold (+384% year over year), and its Ceramide Ato cream sold more than 40,000 units, in 3rd place among facial moisturizers.
As for news, as of mid-October 2026: in September 2026, ILLIYOON launched Derma Expert Pro in Korea, a line sold only through doctors (pediatricians and dermatologists), starting with a foaming cleanser, the Barrier Recovery Bubble Cleanser. This line isn’t available outside that channel.
The ILLIYOON philosophy: gentleness above all
ILLIYOON describes itself as a hydrating, low-irritation “derma” brand. It relies on research from Amorepacific, which claims 40 years of studies on sensitive skin in its dedicated laboratory (the Dermalab). In practice, in the bottles, that means:
- Ceramides everywhere: these are lipids naturally present in the skin, which help keep water inside.
- Fragrance-free formulas in the Ceramide Ato line, and “8 FREE” or “10 FREE” claims on the labels (the list of ingredients the brand chose to leave out).
- The same product for the whole family: the Ceramide Ato line is tested so it can be used from a very young age, from face to body.
- Vegan products: the Ceramide Ato line has received certification from the Korean vegan certification body.

ILLIYOON relies on simple ingredients that sensitive skin knows well. Here are the ones you’ll see most often on the labels.
Ceramides and “soy-ceramide”
Ceramides are lipids that are part of the skin’s “cement”: when there aren’t enough, skin loses water faster and feels tight. ILLIYOON puts them throughout its Ceramide Ato line. Since the third generation (2025), the brand also uses a ceramide derived from black soybeans, which it calls “soy-ceramide”. You’ll find them in the Ceramide Ato Lotion and in the Ceramide Ato 5.0 cleanser.
Madecassoside and centella
Centella asiatica (“cica”) is a plant widely used in K-beauty, valued for soothing skin that heats up. Madecassoside is one of its molecules. ILLIYOON added it to its new Ceramide Ato generation, and you’ll find it with panthenol in the Ceramide Ato soothing gel, very pleasant in summer.
Hyaluronic acid
It works like a water sponge on the skin’s surface. The Hyaluronic Moisture cream contains it in three forms, with squalane and glycerin, for facial skin that lacks water.
Plant oils (perilla, camellia…)
For very dry skin, the Redich line (marked “MD” on the bottles) focuses on nourishment. Its Redich Care Oil combines a complex of six oils (6-Oil Complex), including sunflower, perilla (a seed widely used in Korean cooking), olive, macadamia and camellia, with vitamin E.
Yuzu and vitamin C
A change of mood with the Fresh Moisture line: a fermented yuzu peel extract, vitamin C and a fresh woody-citrus scent. It’s the brand’s “pleasure” range, for those who love a light body lotion that smells good.

- The cleansing oil is used on dry skin and dry hands: massage, add a little water to make it milky, then rinse well.
