If you’ve ever walked into an Olive Young store in Seoul, you’ve surely spotted its purple jars in the skincare aisles. That’s BIO HEAL BOH, the skincare brand created by Olive Young itself. In Korea, its Probioderm cream is a real classic, nicknamed the “tantan cream”: “tantan” is the Korean word for firm, bouncy skin.

So what exactly is BIO HEAL BOH? A 100% Korean brand designed for slow aging: taking care of your skin early and gently, rather than chasing miracle promises. In this guide, we tell you its story, what the word Probioderm means, how to find your way through its ranges and where to start for your skin.

The story of BIO HEAL BOH, from Botanic Heal boH to science

It all starts in 2013: Olive Young, the beauty store chain of the Korean group CJ, launches its in-house brand, 보타닉힐 보 (“Botanic Heal boH”). The original idea: nature-inspired skincare based on plant extracts, sold at gentle prices in its stores.

Over the years, the brand follows the changing wishes of Korean women. It first moves to a derma-cosmetic approach, then makes a name for itself thanks to two products that quickly find their audience: a panthenol cream for weakened skin and a Probioderm cream for firmness.

In February 2021, Olive Young decides to start over. The word “Botanic” (plants) gives way to “Bio”, to highlight skin science: the brand becomes BIOHEAL BOH, with new packaging and a cream in the spotlight, the Probioderm Lifting Cream. The same year, it goes international. Japan has become its big market abroad: you’ll find it on Qoo10 and Rakuten, and also in Loft and Plaza stores.

In January 2024, BIO HEAL BOH teams up with Kolmar Korea, one of the major Korean cosmetics manufacturers, to create a dedicated laboratory, the Probio Lab, which works on the skin’s microbiome. And in September 2025, the brand launches a new range around NAD, called NAD Prizcell, celebrated with a pop-up in the Seongsu neighborhood of Seoul.

As for awards, the Probioderm cream has won several years in a row at the Olive Young Awards, the big Korean beauty ranking, and the 3D version was also recognized in Japan at the Qoo10 Mega Beauty Awards 2025. As of mid-October 2026, it’s still the brand’s flagship product, in Korea as well as at our shop.

The BIO HEAL BOH philosophy: “bio-dermatology”

Since 2021, the brand sums up its approach in one word: bio-dermatology, a mix of biology and skin science. In practice, in the bottles, that means three things:

  • In-house ingredients: the brand develops its own complexes (Probioderm, Panthecell…), protected by patents, instead of simply using the trendy actives.
  • One range = one skin concern: lack of firmness, thin skin that turns red, dark spots, dehydration. You know right away which line is made for you.
  • Reasonable prices: that was already Olive Young’s promise at the relaunch, “high-performance” skincare without the price of luxury brands.
The product to try firstBIO HEAL BOH Probioderm 3D Lifting Biotoxil PLGA Serum 30ml

The serum from the purple range, and one of the most requested at our shop. You apply it just before your cream, using its applicator to massage from the center of your face outward. Perfect for skin lacking firmness, and even better paired with the Probioderm 3D Lifting cream, the cream at the heart of the range.

BIO HEAL BOH’s key ingredients

Each range revolves around one main ingredient. Here are the ones to know before you choose.

Probioderm and probiotic ferments

This is the signature ingredient, the one that gives the purple range its name. Probioderm is a patented ingredient built around the microbiome, all the micro-organisms that naturally live on your skin. In the formulas, you can spot it through the ferments (Lactobacillus, Bifida…), which contribute to the comfort of the skin barrier and to skin that looks firmer. You’ll find it in the 3D Lifting cream, the essence cream and the Essential toner.

Panthenol and centella (Panthecell)

The green Panthecell Repair Cica range combines panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), which helps skin stay supple and hydrated, and centella asiatica, K-beauty’s favorite soothing plant. On the jar of the Panthecell Repair Cica Cream, it’s spelled out: “for thin & delicate skin”, for thin, delicate skin.

Collagen and peptides

The Collagen Remodeling line relies on hydrolyzed collagen, which contributes to skin suppleness, combined with niacinamide and ferments. The Probioderm 3D Lifting toner and essence cream also contain peptides, and the essence cream contains adenosine, two actives widely used in Korea to soften the look of wrinkles. The Collagen Remodeling serum is the easiest way to start.

NAD

This is the newcomer. NAD is a molecule naturally present in our cells, linked to their energy production, and K-beauty presents it as the next big slow aging active after PDRN. With its NAD Prizcell range, BIO HEAL BOH pairs it with niacinamide and glutathione for more luminous skin: that’s the Glow Power serum, with its matching cream.

Go for the green Panthecell range: a comforting cream, pads to place on areas that heat up and a mist to keep in your bag.

A balm to melt away makeup and sunscreen, a gentle cleanser that doesn’t leave skin tight, and a gel mask when you have a little time for yourself.

Dehydrated, tired skin

NAD for a radiance boost, and the Hyalcell range in thin layers for well-hydrated skin from morning to night.

Our tips for using BIO HEAL BOH well

  • Your neck is part of your face: apply the Probioderm cream to your neck too, moving up from the base toward your chin.
  • Always massage upward and outward: that’s what Korean women do with firming skincare, and the Biotoxil serum applicator is made for it.
  • A cool little massage in the morning: glide the Cooling Massager over your cream, from your chin to your temples, for a real fresh feeling when you wake up.
  • One new product at a time, and test it first on a small area (your neck or behind your ear), especially if your skin is sensitive.
  • Sunscreen is a must with the Vita Synergy dark-spot range: without it, you’d lose the benefit of your routine.
  • Mists belong in your bag: the Panthecell cream mist comes in a small size, handy at the office or on a plane.
Good to know

BIO HEAL BOH products are cosmetics: they help hydrate, soothe and make skin look firmer, but they don’t replace medical advice. If your skin reacts (lasting redness, itching, unusual breakouts) or if you have a skin problem that persists, ask a dermatologist for advice.

Our tip from Seoul

Here, lots of girls turn their cream into a night mask: once a week, apply a generous layer of Probioderm cream, leave it on for 10 minutes, then pat what’s left into your skin. For a real skincare evening, start with a Collagen Remodeling gel mask, then finish with the cream.
